Theme: Generative AI has caused so much disruption that there is not a seminar, workshop or conference that does not address the impact of such technology on whatever sphere of human endeavour is being discussed. The impact on intellectual property rights has led to multiple court cases and new legislation with the focus often being on developments in Europe and the United States.
In this webinar, Prof. Peter K. Yu, Regents Professor of Law and Communication, Director of Center for Law and Intellectual Property, Texas A&M University will address the latest developments in Asia concerning the copyrightability of AI-generated works. He then examines the copyright exceptions that have been adopted in the region to enable text and data mining, computational data analysis, or other similar purposes. These exceptions are instrumental in training AI models and advancing the development of AI technology.
Professor Natalie Stoianoff, APCA Immediate Past President, will moderate the discussion with Nguyen Luong Sy from Hue University, Vietnam, and Associate Professor Jie Wang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University as discussants.
